Theodore Decker is a 13-year-old boy whose life is turned upside down after his mother is killed in a terrorist attack at the Metropolitan Museum. Amidst all the chaos, Theo manages to steal a priceless piece of art called The Goldfinch. The Goldfinch, a portrait of a bird, becomes the only thing left for Theo after his mother's tragic death. It becomes a constant companion in his struggle to navigate through life.
