"Labor Day", 13-year-old Henry Wheeler's story revolves around his struggle to cope with the problems brought about by adolescence while trying to be the man of the house and take care of his secluded mother, Adele. During a school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, who is both intimidating and in need of help. Later, it is revealed that Frank is a fugitive, but he manages to convince the mother and son to take him in. The events that unfold during this long weekend of Labor Day will shape the rest of their lives.
